Winnebago Voyage 3438RK Review

Making its original debut as a fifth wheel just before the pandemic halted its production, the Winnebago Voyage 3438RK had a short run. However, Winnebago loved the layout so much that they had to adapt it into the travel trailer Voyage series.

And we’re glad to see it! This layout has many amazing and uncommon features that we’re excited to share with you, so let’s jump in!

Layout:
Perfect for Destination Camping

The layout of the Winnebago Voyage 3438RK is ideal for destination camping. When you get to where you’re going, this RV is something you will be extremely glad you purchased.

If you’re constantly on the move, this RV may not necessarily be the best choice for you. The size and slide configuration make it less ideal if you’re moving around a lot.

3238RK Travel Accessibility:

When you are in “road mode” those opposing slides in the living room cut off access front to back, though you can still access the kitchen from the back door, and the bathroom and bedroom from the front door, so it is not a huge problem.

But the oven slide does block off access to the fridge when the slide is inside, so while in transit, you will need to extend the slide if you want to access any food in your refrigerator.

Remember, RVing is all about personal preferences, and what works for one person may not work for another. So, if you are more concerned about the layout of your RV when you get where you’re going instead of on the way there, this RV may be just what you’ve been looking for.

The layout is completely optimized for comfort, spacious living, connection, and entertainment. Let’s take a look at the individual elements of this layout.

Living Area:
Where Comfort Meets Entertainment

Let’s start with the living area, the heart of this fantastic travel trailer. Winnebago has nailed it with their innovative design. The mid-living room with opposing slides isn’t too uncommon until you realize that Instead of the usual dual opposing hide-a-beds, they’ve opted for a stylish desk and chair setup. This small change makes a world of difference.

The desk is set in the campside slide with an abundance of window coverage, giving you amazing views to inspire as you work.

The 7-foot ceilings throughout the whole RV create a spacious feel, and blackout roller shades ensure you have the perfect ambiance whether you’re watching the game or catching some rays. The stadium seating setup is perfect for entertaining guests, and you’ll find that there’s not a bad seat in the RV.

The couch in the slide even has the space for a removable and rotatable table setup giving room to eat, work, or play in whatever way you want.

Kitchen:
Connected and Creative

Moving into the kitchen, you’ll find everything you could need. The microwave and 16-in oven are located in a slide, which helps the kitchen to feel much more spacious, giving you ample room to move around.

A 15-cubic-foot 12-volt compressor fridge gives you plenty of storage for extended stays.

The raised breakfast bar provides stadium seating, allowing the folks in the kitchen to stay connected to the entertainment center. It can also be used for extra counter space while preparing your culinary masterpieces. Plus, there are power outlets and even a wireless phone charger built into the raised bar.

Bathroom:
Comfort and Functionality

The 7-foot ceiling carries over into the bathroom, helping this bathroom to stay as spacious as possible, especially in the shower where the skylight provides even more height and natural light.

However, tall individuals may want to watch their head while they use the toilet, as if they sit up straight they may hit their head on the towel rod.

The medicine cabinet has also been moved to the side of the mirror instead of behind it, making it easy to reach, especially when bending down to brush your teeth.

Bedroom:
A Cozy Haven

Moving on to the bedroom, you’ll find a king-sized bed giving plenty of room to stretch out.

One standout feature is the extra closet space with washer/dryer hookups. If you plan on extended stays or full-time RV living, this is a game-changer to avoid laundromats. However, it does eat into your clothing storage space if you choose to include the washer/dryer, so consider your needs carefully.

Exterior:
Form and Function

The exterior of the Winnebago Voyage 3438RK is both attractive and functional. The dark nose gives it a modern look, and the front and back entrances give ease of access to both sides of the RV, even in transit.

The 3438RK also has a 200-watt factory-standard solar panel on the roof, helping you stay off the grid for longer.

However, one thing to keep in mind is that the slide on the non-camp side does separate the kitchen grey outlet and the bathroom black/grey outlet, making this, as Josh would say, a “two-stage sewer monster.”
