Living Area
Rockwood has made a smart change and placed the refrigerator in the slide-out next to a spacious three-seater sofa. A two seater sofa kiddie corner to it transforms into a daytime Murphy bed, which helps save space during the day.
There’s another three seat sofa that also comes with a pair of mini Lagun tables, mounted to the wall. These eliminate the need for a table altogether.
Kitchen
In the kitchen you’ll find more clever design choices.
The countertop has plenty of working space and includes two pop-up power towers with wireless phone charging pads.
Where some RVers might expect a fireplace, Rockwood uses that space for more storage.
You’ll find a four burner stove here with a microwave directly above it. The TV, usually considered part of the “living space” is right to the left of the microwave which makes it easy to see from the three seater couch we mentioned before.
Bathroom
The bathroom in the Rockwood 2517S is surprisingly roomy for an RV this size.
Because Rockwood’s didn’t place the refrigerator on this side, there’s extra space around the toilet. The rectangular shower, though not the largest, gets the job done, and the aqua-view shower visor and XL vent fan are thoughtful additions.
Bedroom
In the bedroom area, there’s a 60 x 74-inch Camp Queen Murphy bed with a privacy curtain. It’s not a full 80-inch true queen bed, but the convenience of being able to fold it and store it out of the way may be worth the smaller sleeping space.

The bedroom features outlets on inverter circuits, now that the RV has an 1800-watt inverter, you can use appliances like a coffee maker.
Road Mode
When it comes to traveling, you’ll need to stow away the Murphy bed if you want to close the slide-out. This might be a minor inconvenience , but considering the extra space gained with the slide-out open, it’s probably a worthwhile trade-off.
Exterior
The 2024 Rockwood 2517S is built on a solid foundation of six-sided aluminum construction with laminated walls and Azdel on the inside and outside layers. The roof is walkable, and the RV comes with a 200-watt solar panel and roof vent covers on Max Air fans.
One standout feature is the inclusion of both a bumper and a hitch, offering versatile options for carrying additional cargo or bikes.
Good news if you’re planning to go off-grid. The RV comes with two 30 pound propane tanks.
Potential Problems
While the Rockwood 2517S is an impressive travel trailer, there are a few potential drawbacks. Some customers might prefer having more campsite window coverage.
Depending on how you feel about having to lift the murphy bed for transit this could be a problem as well.
