A Brand New Destination Trailer | The 2024 Wildwood Lodge 44 VIEW

By Aaron Brunson

Do we really classify this thing as a “Park Camper” or “Destination Travel Trailer”? This RV is more like a house than it is an RV! To be honest, it’s kind of making me rethink life and why the goal has been to live in a house all along and not in one of these instead…

At Bish’s RV we know that not every RV is the right fit for every person. We love helping people find an RV that meets their needs.

We know that not everyone is looking for something that is more of a house than an RV, but if you are, keep reading to learn more about the 2024 Wildwood 44View price and features so you can decide if it’s right for you.

Before jumping into each of the different areas of the RV, I wanted to make sure I gave Forest River credit where credit is due. They listened to customer feedback with the 42View and made some changes here that make the RVing experience better all around. Probably the biggest change is – well hey now, I can’t just spoil it right here in the beginning, can I? Hint: You’ll find it in the Bathroom section.

If you’re not a fan of window coverage you’re going to want to pass on this RV because it has 224 square feet of it. Which is literally the most in the WHOLE INDUSTRY.

Living Area Features

Open Floor Plan

There are two entry doors to the RV, one at the front and one at the back. Either one will lead to the main living area that screams more of a household living room. It might be the residential-sized fridge, the full-sized gas range, the massive sectional sofa, or maybe it has something to do with not one but TWO staircases that lead to lofts.

As Josh was filming in the living area, he had to take off his coat because the electric fireplace worked very, very, well. And with the sun beating in through those massive windows the cold weather outside was no match for the 44 View.

Speaking of the fireplace, there’s a Bluetooth/smart TV combo built into it. The TV slides up and down into the entertainment center dubbing it a “televator”. Directly behind the TV, you’ll see those big windows that I mentioned earlier; those come with powered blinds that block out the sun to help keep the RV cool.

Under the sectional is some clever storage space. The end seat flips up as well as the headrest and the ottoman. These are great nooks to put blankets or board games. Oh, and the sectional can open up into another sleeper too!

I think you’ll agree that the living area doesn’t feel like a typical RV.

Improvements

Forest River has improved the performance of the powered blinds. There were complaints that the blinds would “amp out” occasionally during use. Now, the whole powered blinds system works the way that it should.

Air System

Well, you know this thing can warm up, but can it get cool? Let me throw out some facts that show that it does.

  • Dual 15,000 BTU
  • Blackout Shades for all windows
  • RV Airflow System creates 40% better airflow

Trust me. You won’t have to worry about staying cool in this RV.

Kitchen

Forest River has decked out the kitchen with hardwood cabinetry – for the most part. The cabinet rails and handles aren’t hardwood but the overall feel is very much so hardwood. The dining island comes with five stools. There isn’t a true dining table but the island here is great. I’m sure if I had one of these I wouldn’t be missing a table anyway.

The refrigerator as I mentioned earlier is residential-sized and comes with an icemaker.

There are plenty of cupboards and drawers as well that make sure you have enough space for all of your food, ingredients, and kitchen gadgets.

Basically, what it boils down to is, that I don’t think you’ll be missing your home kitchen in this RV.

Bathrooms

That’s right. This section is titled Bathrooms, plural. This is that big change that I almost spoiled at the beginning of the article. Forest River got a ton of feedback on the 42View’s bathroom setup and decided to listen to their customers with the 44 View.

Half Bathroom

Instead of just one bathroom on one side of the RV, this time around, Forest River has included an additional half bath on the other end. This means that those who are bunking it in the lofts on one end don’t have to wander from one end to the other in the middle of the night to get to the bathroom.

The half bathroom near the kitchen had excellent legroom, however, the elbow room was pretty tight. You can see Josh demonstrate that below. He suggested that Forest River simply cut out a portion of the counter to give your right arm more space.

Full Bathroom

At the rear of the RV is the full bathroom. It is a double step down into the bathroom so keep that in mind if stairs are an issue for you or your family members.

The shower is gorgeous and has tons of headroom.

One thing they’ve added here is linen storage and a giant closet that is big enough for a stackable washer and dryer combo.

Bedroom

The 44 View bedroom comes with a powered incline bed. Now, this isn’t like a Sleep Number bed or anything like that. You’re not supposed to be in the bed when you adjust it. The switch for the bed’s incline is intentionally placed on the wall by the light switch so that you aren’t using it while in the bed.

You’ll love all of the windows here. And yes, they come with pull-down blackout shades for privacy. But being able to have that almost 360-degree view of nature really makes this room stand out.

There’s also a good amount of closet space here too.

The Lofts

The 2024 Wildwood Lodge 44 VIEW has two lofts. One in the front, and one in the back of the RV.

The Front Loft

This loft has a curved staircase that winds up the kitchen wall. Forest River has kept the two bunks here.

On either side of the stairs, you’ll see there’s a level change. People are using these areas as entertainment centers or gaming areas for kids.

The Rear Loft

The rear loft does not have windy stairs but it does have an electric dustpan built into the bottom step. If the carpet looks a little funny in the loft, it’s because they’ve added padding under it to make it more comfortable.

The bed here is a camp queen. A true queen won’t fit, unfortunately.

But when you think about all of the living space as a whole in this RV, it’s kind of like its own family cabin all in one. Think about all of the grandkids you can fit in this thing?!

Road Mode

Normally, we would talk about how an RV travels on the road with the slides closed here, but this is a destination travel trailer. This is not a travel trailer you haul around all the time. This is something that you take and park somewhere and leave it at a – you guessed it – a destination.

When the slides are closed you do lose access to the refrigerator and the kitchen’s half bath. Other than that though, because of the two entry doors, you have full access to the RV.

To be honest I didn’t think this monster had slides too!

Check out the video below to learn about tow ratings.

Exterior

One thing you’ll notice is there isn’t a stable step. Forest River uses the traditional fold-out steps. That’s because destination trailer RVers will actually build a campsite that is higher than ground level up to their RV.

Once you know that and see the 6.5 ft high serving tray on the side of the RV here it all makes sense.

The awning is 26ft which is huge. When they are this large you’re going to want to pull them in during wet weather. The weight of the rain combined with the awning can add too much stress on it and damage it.

The 44 View has been beefed up with a triple 6k axle.

The stabilizer jacks are optional – surprisingly.

You’ll only find one storage compartment on the outside here. While this is unlike most RVs, the inside of the 44 View does have a ton of storage space.

Bear in mind that this is a “two-headed sewer monster” as Josh puts it. So, if you find two sewer outlets unmanageable, you’re going to want to pass on this RV.

Last year the 42View had a 10-gallon gas/electric and 20-gallon residential electric water heater. You won’t find those here. They have been swapped out for a 60,000 BTU on-demand water heater.

This RV does have a heated underbelly which is helpful for extending your camp season.

Potential Problems

If I had the opportunity to own one of these myself I would jump on the chance! What actually owning it and finding a place for it would look like I have no idea. Which I think is the biggest hurdle for most people. So, you can buy it, but what do you do with it?

You can’t really move it around. Do you have the land to take it to? How do you get it there? Do you have a truck big enough to haul this thing?

Okay, so maybe you can get it delivered to a campsite that you rent out. Then what? What happens when your stay is over? Then what do you do? Do you have to rent out another campsite and then pay for another delivery?

There are a lot of what-ifs that someone would have to figure out.

Good Fit or Bad Fit?

The 2024 Wildwood Lodge 44 View is a great fit for those who are looking for an RV that they can park somewhere and visit now and then. This is the perfect RV for big families that need a little extra space.

This RV is not a good fit for anyone who doesn’t like stairs, two sewer outlets, not having an RV that they can’t move around a lot, or if you don’t like windows. Because again, it has the most in the whole industry!

Positive Reviews

@robinwest-4949: “I agree about the half-bath counter cutout. Even 6″ of counter is useful. Also if I’m going to be staying somewhere like this for a while, I would need a dishwasher. Even a slimline or cabinet one. Love the lift bed.”

@Timothy_Smith: “Great looking rig. I can just imagine this if you own a piece of property overlooking a lake or in the mountains.”

@misskatrinaxox: “I’m loving this camper. I do wish they would make it optional for the sliding glass door. Also it would be nice to be able to add storage to the sink side of the island instead of it being open. And I fully support the cut out in the half bath although maybe use the space for the shelf by the primary bedroom for the half bath.”

@joepeach997: “As Josh said, ‘I don’t know where to begin!’ It’s BEAUTIFUL! If you are going to settle somewhere or only move occasionally, what a way to go. And I think Bish’s price is very fair on this elegant model!”

@michellehallee6348: “This one fixes all the issues I had the 2024 42view. It has the full size oven the biggest fridge. That half bath is a major bonus. I agree that the counter in there should be cut back a bit.”

@sherriweber7105: “This is a nice vacation home. But I agree with the half bath counter underneath. It’s still doable. It’s all very nice live it! Thank you Josh! I hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃”

@renayapodaca2145: “Love the space! One thing that always bugs me (on all RVs) is the electrical outlet placement. I think the outlet on the stairs is way too high. I personally don’t want to see cords hanging. Maybe they could align with the other outlet on the window wall, making it just above the couch. The storage lid won’t be up all the time so that shouldn’t be an issue. Thanks so much for all your work!”

@17lyra777: “You all posted this one on the same day lol but this was my favourite because you showed us head room in the lofts 🙏🏻 thank you! It’s hard to tell without perspective sometimes 😊”

@texillini1: “These are really nice. Question: If you take this to Texas, could this be considered full time living? Or, if you had the right property, would this stand up to renting this out on a campsite resort, so sorta full time living? Yes, ALL campers should have a ladder on them. Good price.”

@tiffanystokes5509: “I do love this unit, however it, for the most part, looks just like it did in the 2023 model. I liked that one as much as I like this one, I would love to own one of these.” @chriscalvin5083: “Great video Josh not only are you informative but funny.” @johnwhite2978: “Very nice concept, but why can’t they design a unit that is more ADA compliant. Great review.”

@someloser993: “BTW, I like the ceiling mount fan light(s). I’d like to see them get rid of the loft over the bedroom and give it a nice high ceiling with a big ceiling fan. Could keep the part over the half-bath and wardrobe for storage.”

Negative Reviews

@tbyrdinhand3346: “Too many windows!!”

@sandracummings9517: “That half bath is almost a deal breaker. I could do without the extra counter space in the half bath. I would gladly sacrifice the counter for more arm room. In the back bunk, wonder if you could swap out that mattress for a double?”

@garrylandrito3083: “My wife and I looked at one we are in Arizona but gosh Josh there’s too many windows. I wish they don’t have windows on the top part and just a couple windows in the master bedroom.”

@someloser993: “The roller shades still seem to let a lot of light in around the sides. That observation said, they do seem to provide a better level of privacy than most treatments which at night provide more puppet show (lit tent shadows) type images than true privacy.”
